In the heart of Foindu Village, Northern Sierra Leone, where resources are scarce and opportunities limited, a simple phrase sparked a movement: “Thank you for bringing hope to us.”
These words, spoken during a humble meet-and-greet in 2021, moved Dr. Adama Kalokoh, CEO of Impact Sierra Leone, to action. What began as a heartfelt exchange evolved into a powerful tradition—the Christmas Day of Hope.
A Season That Leaves Many Behind
While many around the world celebrate Christmas with abundance, joy, and family, thousands of children in Foindu Village face a different reality.
• No school supplies to continue their education
• Limited access to hygiene essentials
• No festive meal to mark the season
For these children, Christmas is just another day of struggle.
The Cost of Being Forgotten
Imagine being a child with dreams of becoming a teacher, a doctor, or a leader—but lacking even a pencil to write your name. Imagine watching the world celebrate while your village remains in silence. This is the emotional cost of being underserved. And it’s why we must act.
When I first visited Foindu Village, I was deeply moved by the resilience and spirit of the children. Their gratitude sparked a vision—one where every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated. The Christmas Day of Hope is our way of honoring that vision.
I invite you to join us in planting seeds of joy this season. Whether it’s a backpack, a hygiene kit, or a warm meal, your gift will echo far beyond the holidays. Together, we can turn hope into action.”
