My Story, From Voiceless to VICTORIOUS! From Curiosity to Commitment: Chronicles of a Diaspora Queen

Dr Adama Kalokoh, CEO, Impact Sierra Leone.

When I first set foot in Sierra Leone, it wasn’t with the title of “CEO.” It was with a curious heart—a simple desire to explore, to understand, to visit the place of my roots and honor my parents, especially my late father, Mr. James Ibrahim Conteh. I visited villages where I had relatives and captured many memorable moments. I took photos. I shared stories, but not only that, I brought these stories to my social media platforms and gave voice to our beautiful country. That felt like enough for a while.

But the more I returned, the more I realized—stories alone won’t change lives.

I saw the hunger—not just for food, but for opportunity.

I saw many people, especially the women with silent voices, tired eyes, and a longing for something more. And it hit me: this isn’t just a trip anymore. This is a mission.

That’s when Impact Sierra Leone was born—not just in name, but in purpose.

We started small. A conversation. A smile. A seed. And over time, we built trust.

We didn’t rush, we showed up again and again.

We listened. We involved them. We made room for their voices.

Today, I’m proud to say that the mission we started has become a movement and is now a 501c3 called Impact Sierra Leone! From here led us to establish our anchor program called the Seeds of Life Program.

This amazing Sustainable Development program has created opportunities for us to transform underdeveloped communities beginning with the women farmers.

I'm super proud and excited to give voice to forty women farmers, members of the Impact Women's Agribusiness Collective at Foindu Village.

These women—once guarded and unsure—are now rising. They are entrepreneurs, farmers, decision-makers. Their voices are no longer silent.

And this? This is just the beginning.

Because the journey of impact isn’t about a title.

It’s about hearing the unheard.

Serving the forgotten.

And walking together—one story at a time.
