The Heart of Our Mission: A Celebration of Impact Sierra Leone Volunteers

Indeed, Together We Rise — Some days I pause, not out of exhaustion, but in awe.

Awe of the vision.

Awe of the people.

Awe of the unseen hands that carry the dream even when I’m not in the room.

Because the truth is, having a powerful vision is only the beginning.

But who walks with you — now that’s what determines how far the vision will go.

Impact Sierra Leone Volunteers at the June 7th, 2025 Volunteers Appraisal Event.

As the CEO of Impact Sierra Leone, I’ve learned that no matter how bold the dream is, it cannot thrive without people who are supportive, people who are ready to give their all. And when such people are rare or stretched thin, what holds everything together is something deeper: Culture.

A culture that nurtures trust.

That builds responsibility.

That ensures that even in your absence, the work is done — and done well.

This is exactly what I see in our incredible volunteers back home in Sierra Leone.

They are not just part of the mission, they are the mission in motion.

They’re not just voices.

They are powerhouses.

They move both in front of us and behind the scenes ensuring that every single program is carried out with heart, diligence, and excellence.

Let me take a moment to honor Joseph sesay, our steadfast Country Director. From the very beginning, Joseph has stood with us, embodying what it means to lead with purpose and dedication. His presence bridges the gap between idea and action. And right beside him is Chris Mansaray, our Deputy Country Director — another phenomenal soul whose strength, collaboration, and leadership inspire the entire team.

These two don’t just lead; they build a movement. Together, with other team members — including the ever-reliable Blessing Faith Mammah, and a group of young, vibrant, self-willed women, Paulina Musa, Bestina Faiye, Francess Koroma — they uphold the vision with such grace. They show up, again and again, ready to help. Ready to serve.

(Augustine Sessie, Abu Sesay and Alusine Sesay were also in attendance dedicating their ideas, time and effort)

On Saturday, June 7th, 2025, they gathered for a volunteer appreciation meeting — a space to reconnect, reflect, and realign with the heartbeat of Impact Sierra Leone. They spoke of the future. They shared about their duties. They gave feedback. They planned.

And yes — what’s a meeting without joy? Without the signature dish of SierraLeone, Cassava Leaves soup? The atmosphere was filled with laughter, with food, with camaraderie.

Because transformation doesn’t just happen through tasks. It happens through togetherness.

Volunteering isn’t about titles. It’s about heart.

To volunteer is to say, “Count me in.”

It’s to raise your hand not because of duty, but because of devotion.

It’s to care when no one is watching.

It’s to do the work like the vision was born in your own soul.

That is what this team embodies.

They are the reason Impact Sierra Leone continues to move forward even when I’m not there. They’ve made the mission theirs, and that has made all the difference.

To Joseph, Chris, Augustine, and every committed volunteer — the ones seen and unseen —

I see you. I value you. I thank you.

You’re not just supporting the dream — you’re building it. And because of you, we’ll keep planting seeds of hope, one community at a time.

With the support of our volunteers, indeed the Journey of Impact Continues.
