We Took Baltimore to Sierra Leone — And the Room Was Never the Same

April 18th, 2026 | Unlocked Business Conference 2026, Baltimore, USA

On Saturday, April 18th, 2026, something special happened inside the Maryland Center for History and Culture. Impact Sierra Leone (ISL) showed up — and showed out at the 2026 Unlocked Business Conference.

We were honored to be invited as a Spotlight Non-profit at an incredible gathering hosted by KAT Eyez Production and Strategic Collaborative Network at the Maryland Center for History and Culture in Baltimore, Maryland. This center is a must-visit place for the entire family. The room was filled with entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, and changemakers from across the DMV, Boston, and Philadelphia areas— and for a few hours, ISL took them somewhere else entirely.

We took them to Sierra Leone.

Through our showcase, attendees got a window into the lives of the women and girls we serve in Foindu Village — their resilience, their ambition, and the very real transformation happening on the ground through ISL’s programs. We also had the privilege of introducing Crown of Victory — Dr. Adama Kalokoh’s book that amplifies the voices of women who have refused to be silenced by circumstance.

And then came a moment that meant everything.

Dr. Adama Kalokoh stood before the audience — entrepreneurs, investors, advocates, people who had never heard of Foindu Village — and shared our mission. She spoke about what it means to serve women and girls who are building futures from the ground up, and she gave the room tangible ways to join the movement.

Dr. Adama Kalokoh is seen addressing the audience at the just-concluded Unlocked Business Conference 2026 in Baltimore, USA.

The day was rich. Inspiring speakers on financial empowerment and community leadership. Breakout sessions that sparked real conversations. Performances that moved people. And networking that felt less like card-swapping and more like genuine community-building.

We left Baltimore with new connections, new partners, and a renewed fire.

This is what solidarity looks like in action. This is what it means when organizations don’t just talk about collaboration — they create the table and invite you to it.

To KAT Eyez Production and Strategic Collaborative Network — thank you for seeing us, including us, and giving ISL a platform to share what is happening in West Africa. You didn’t just invite us to an event. You helped us extend our reach to people who can change lives.

The work continues. And we are not doing it alone.
