Why We're Hosting An Evening of Hope (And Why It Matters More Than Ever)

Impact Sierra Leone An Evening of Hope Event Flyer
When we founded Impact Sierra Leone in 2019, we made a promise to our Pivot Community—the women of Foindu Village:
We would not abandon them. We would not treat them as charity cases. We would walk alongside them as they built the futures they deserve.
That promise led us to create the Seeds of Life Program, which has blossomed into a comprehensive approach to reducing poverty and resource deprivation through education, agriculture, and community wellness.
And on December 5th, that promise brings us to WBGR Studios in Landover, Maryland, for An Evening of Hope.
The Evening of Hope Is More Than a Fundraiser
Yes, we're raising funds. But we're doing so much more than that.
We're celebrating Sierra Leonean culture in all its vibrancy and beauty. We're honoring the women of Foindu Village, Northern Sierra Leone, who wake up before dawn to work the land with their hands. We're inviting the DMV community into a story of transformation that's already in motion.
And we're preparing to complete something extraordinary: a Vocational Skills Training Center for the women, youth, and entire community of Foindu Village. We've already taken crucial steps toward this goal, including a groundbreaking ceremony in March 2025, an Official Site Visit, Installation of building signposts, and the gradual purchase of materials and tools needed to kick-start the building Foundation
By March 2026: A New Chapter Begins
In just a few months, 40 women farmers in Foindu Village will walk through the doors of a brand-new vocational training center—the first of its kind in this rural settlement in Northern Sierra Leone.
For six months, they'll receive intensive training in:
Sustainable agriculture and modern farming techniques
Agribusiness management and entrepreneurship
Clean energy practices
Digital literacy
Creative trades like tailoring, jewelry-making, and culinary arts
They'll learn from certified instructors. They'll gain hands-on experience. They'll develop business plans.
And when they graduate? They won't just be farmers anymore.
They'll be "womenpreneurs"—business owners, community leaders, and agents of change.
But We Need Your Help to Finish It
The building construction is reaching a critical phase as we purchase materials to complete the foundation. This ambitious project has a $100,000 fundraising goal, divided into two categories:
Category A: $50,000 - Building Construction
Category B: $50,000 - Program & Operations, including:
Training materials and equipment
Ongoing operational support
Agricultural tools and starter supplies for graduates
Mentorship and business development programs
That's where An Evening of Hope comes in.
Every ticket sold brings us closer to opening day. Every dollar donated plants seeds that will grow into thriving businesses, stable incomes, and transformed communities.
And There's More
One week after our fundraiser, we'll be back in Sierra Leone for our annual Christmas Day of Hope outreach (December 12-13, 2025).
We're bringing joy to 350 children through backpacks filled with school supplies and toys. We're providing dignity to 200 adults through hygiene care packages: Christmas Meal and clothing supplies.
